Important trial for chronic low back pain patients

Chronic Low Back Pain is one of the leading causes of disability in all societies worldwide.

In the region of 30% of Chronic Low Back Pain patients have endplate bone oedema – Modic Type 1 or 1+2
  • Easily identified using  MRI scans

Long term oral antibiotic treatment has been shown to be effective but there are significant drawbacks

In The Modic Trial, an antibiotic will be injected directly into the intervertebral  disc, the site of infection
Aiming to speed improvement, reduce side-effects, obviate compliance issues whilst eliminating the risk of community resistance
